Former adjutant general to speak in Columbus

<p>A Johnson County man who served as adjutant general of the Indiana National Guard under three governors will be speaking in Columbus.  </p><p>Retired Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger will address the importance of each generation to serve in the Armed Forces. His 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7 address will be at Four Seasons Retirement Community, 1901 Taylor Road.    </p><p>Before retiring from the military in 2015 after 46 years of service, Umbarger was instrumental in establishing Muscatatuck Urban Training Center as a nationally recognized training facility for both military and civilian responders. He also helped lead the expansion of Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh into a state-of-the-art simulation, cyber, mobilization and training facility.</p><p>He is president of Umbarger Agribusiness, a family business in Bargersville. Umbarger has also served as a consultant or advisor to corporate clients during the past three years.</p><p>Umbarger’s address is free and open to the public, but people planning to attend should RSVP by calling 812-372-8481 by Nov. 5.    </p>
