Part of Fry Road to close for 2 weeks

<p>A mostly residential road just west of the Greenwood Park Mall will close for two weeks starting today while crews replace a culvert structure under the roadway.</p><p>A two-mile stretch of Fry Road will be closed from Howard Road, which is two blocks west of U.S. 31, to State Road 135. It is expected to be closed starting today until Nov. 16, according to a news release from the Johnson County Highway Department.</p><p>Drivers needing to travel east on Fry Road should continue north on State Road 135 to County Line Road, turn right and head east on County Line Road to U.S. 31.</p><p>Drivers needing to travel west on Fry Road should drive south on Howard Road to Main Street, turn right and then head west to State Road 135.</p><p>Local traffic and public safety will be allowed in and out of the construction zone. But they will not be allowed to drive through the project area near State Road 135, Johnson County Highway Director Luke Mastin said.</p><p>The culvert is old and had to be steel-plated earlier this fall when pieces of it started to wash away causing it to fail. Now it needs to be completely replaced, Mastin said.</p><p>The project will cost about $10,000, he said.</p>
