Mickey Leon Fleener, 86, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 5th, 2018 at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on July 17th, 1932 to Clora Dell (Brummett) and Lawrence Fleener in Morgantown, Indiana.

Mickey graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1950. He was a member of the United States Army during the Korean War where he worked as a top notch baker.

He married Janice S. (Edwards) Fleener on January 4th, 1974. She precedes him in passing.

He worked as a mechanic, service writer, and service manager during his lifetime. He retired from Don Sisk Pontiac after many years of service.

Mickey was a member of the NRA. He was a true outdoorsman and lover of nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, birdwatching, gardening, and had an unlimited knowledge of all things outdoors. He spent his time metal detecting and collecting Indian Artifacts. His love for Klondike Bars went as far as being nicknamed the “Klondike Kid”.

Mickey is survived by his children, Melody (Edward) Miller, Michael (Sherry) Fleener, and Melissa (Ajay) Patel; stepchildren, Dale (Sherri) Johnson, Linda (Michael) Hoseclaw, and Jana (Mike) Baggatta; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Lawrence and Clora Fleener; wife, Janice Fleener; grandson, Tyler Shaffer; 1 sister and 3 brothers.

Rev. Jon Lucas will conduct a celebration of Mickey’s life on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends and family may call on Friday, November 9th, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
