Non-profit in Franklin earns grant

A non-profit organization that helps girls throughout the county has received a grant to help with its mission serving girls.

Girls Inc. of Johnson County received a $28,000 grant from the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana.

Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, awarded grants to 15 central Indiana organizations totaling $289,830. The Women’s Fund advisory board approved the grants for projects that align with the organization’s mission to create options and opportunities for women and girls in Central Indiana.

Girls Inc. of Johnson County is based in Franklin and helps girls in the community by offering after school classes and camps, summer camps and classes and programs that are designed to teach the girls how to live strong and healthy lifestyles.

The nonprofit will use the money to increase partnerships in the community, implement curriculum and offer scholarships.
