Child killed in Trafalgar car crash

A child was killed in a Sunday morning car crash near Trafalgar.

The 5-year-old boy was found unconscious at the scene of the crash that occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on State Road 252 West near County Road 150 West. He later died at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said.

The driver of the car the child was riding in — a 28-year-old Trafalgar man — was also taken to Methodist Hospital for severe bleeding on his entire body, according to an accident report. He told deputies he was on his way to Greenwood, but does not remember what happened.

Cox said the driver pulled out in front of another car traveling east on State Road 252. The 79-year-old driver of that car, a Bargersville man, does not remember what happened either, the report said. He was taken to Johnson Memorial after he complained of pain to his abdomen and pelvis, according to the report.

Both drivers were given blood tests to determine if they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Those results are pending.
