Stolen car leads to arrest after pursuit

Police ordered Franklin schools on lockdown temporarily on Thursday afternoon after a suspect ran from a truck towards an elementary building.

The incident happened about 3:40 p.m. Thursday near Creekside Elementary, on the west side of Franklin. Police were investigating a stolen truck and tried to stop a driver, who ran out of the vehicle against an officer’s order, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was found to have a knife clipped to his pocket and was located hiding in an outbuilding of a residence after a brief search, the report said.

Micah Bowling, 34, of 3060 Whittington Drive, North Vernon, was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement and driving while suspended with a prior conviction, as well as an arrest warrant. He was taken to the Johnson County jail and held without bond.

The truck had been reported stolen in Brown County, and was returned to the owner, the report said.
