Morris L. Beck, 87, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Homeview Health and Rehab Center.

Before retirement he was a principle for 25 years at Perry Meridian Middle School in Perry Township School System.

He graduated from Hope High School in 1949 as president of his class. He then graduated from Franklin College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and then graduated from Butler University with a Master’s degree in Education.

Morris served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1951 – 1954. He was a sergeant and served in the Korean Conflict.

Morris enjoyed grain farming and raising cattle. He loved spending time with his family.

The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Shan Rutherford officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born February 15, 1931 in Hartsville, Morris was the son of Theodric R. Beck and Mary A. Covert Beck White. He married Dorothy “Jackie” Bense April 8, 1952 and she survives in Franklin.

Other survivors include sons, Philip “Phil” (Jenny) Beck of Franklin and Morris Lynn (Debbie) Beck of Clarks Hill; grandchildren, Andy (Kristi) Bayliss of Franklin, Kurt (Jennifer) Bayliss of Greenfield, Ryan (Jamie) Beck of Franklin, Adam (Dana) Beck of Mulberry, Sarah (Casey) Null of Mulberry, Marcus (Brandi) Beck of Lafayette; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Todd, Donald, Byron and James Beck and a sister, Colleen Gommel.
