Vehicles stolen from county found in pieces on southside

Police arrested a man on a charge of theft after they found eight vehicles stolen from across central Indiana, including two from Johnson County.

Elisha Johnson, 31, was arrested Tuesday in Indianapolis, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release.

The vehicles were found at 2025 Old Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, mostly disassembled to be sold as parts, the news release said.

Most of the thefts occurred between August and January. Among the vehicles are a 1966 Ford F150, stolen from Whiteland, and a 2005 Chrysler 300, stolen in Franklin on Jan. 8, the news release said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police, Indiana State Police, the National Insurance Bureau and the Regional Auto Theft Task Force served the search warrant that led to the arrest.
