Franklin College

Women’s basketball snaps skid

Freshman Britney Ballard poured in a career-high 23 points as Franklin College ended a three-game losing streak with an 89-71 victory at Manchester on Monday night.

Bayleigh Walker added 14 points for the Grizzlies (7-16, 5-11 HCAC), with Mallory Cast and Lindsay Freije contributing 12 and 11, respectively.

Tennis coach Moran promoted

Franklin College men’s tennis assistant Justin Moran, who has also coached at Greenwood High School, was promoted into the head men’s position on Monday, replacing longtime coach Rusty Hughes.

Moran had assisted Hughes — who will remain the women’s head coach and a men’s assistant — since 2012.
