Men’s basketball clinches tourney bid

Franklin College secured the sixth and final spot in next week’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a 101-81 triumph over Transylvania on Wednesday night.

Borden Kennedy scored a career-best 25 points to lead the Grizzlies (10-14, 8-9 HCAC), who won for the sixth time in seven games.  Kale Morris chipped in with 21 points in the win, while Payton Mills and Sam Gutierrez had 19 apiece. Matt Krause led Franklin on the glass with 15 rebounds.

Women’s basketball takes road loss

Bayleigh Walker scored 14 points, but Franklin College was unable to climb out of an early hole in a 90-52 defeat at No. 20 Transylvania on Wednesday.
