On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, Arlis Stapleton passed away at the VA Hospital in Tomah, Wisconsin after a long illiness. Arlis was born October 17, 1942 in Columbia, Kentucky to Manuel and Mayme (Burton) Stapleton.
</p>
<p>
He was a graduate of Edinburgh High, School Class of 1961. He is also an alumni of Franklin College, Class of 1974. He served his country honorably in the military for 20 years and civil service for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam.
</p>
<p>
Arlis was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Stapleton; and his sister, Helen Morgan.
</p>
<p>
Arlis is survived by his wife, Margret Stapleton in Tomah, Wisconsin; son A.G. Stapleton Jr. (Tina Kolb) of Columbus, Indiana, and daughter, Buffy Stapleton (Chris Stallings) of Columbia, Missouri; stepsons, John and Jimmy Chitwood; grandchildren, Stokley and Jaxsin Stapleton of Columbus, Indiana; and step-grandchildren Tyler and Tommy Chitwood of Wisconsin. Others survivors include brothers and sisters, Regina (Jim) Huffman, Brenda (Jim) Camp-Buckley, Charles Stapleton (Veda Taylor), Ronnie (Debbie) Stapleton, Donald (Mirna) Stapleton, Pam (Danny) Camp, Cindy (David) Stephenson, and Eddie (Tammy) Hodge.

The celebration of life service will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. with calling from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 1010 South Main Street, Edinburgh, Indiana.
