Top Clark-Pleasant administrator resigns

One of the highest ranking administrators in Clark-Pleasant Schools will leave his post at the end of the school year.

Cameron Rains, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, worked for the district previously, but served in his current role for seven years. The school board approved his resignation on Tuesday. He would not say why he is leaving, and there is no word yet on who his replacement might be.

In his position, Rains was in charge of shaping the school’s curriculum. His departure comes at the same time the district will be adopting a new curriculum based on new state graduation requirements that take effect next school year. Those new requirements place a greater emphasis on career readiness.

Before coming to Whiteland in 2013, Rains served as the Director of Elementary Education at Monroe County Schools. He said his new role will also be in education, but declined to comment on the scope or location of his new gig.

“I’m looking to have a broader impact on students, just keep moving in that direction,” Rains said.

He appreciates what the community and the rest of the administration has offered him during his time in Whiteland, he said.

“It’s a testament to our staff,” Rains said. “I’m just fortunate to be a small part of the team. It’s been great. We have excellent students, an awesome staff and a great community. It’s been a lot of fun and it’s been a privilege to serve.”

Rains hopes his replacement fully embraces the Clark-Pleasant community as he has, he said.

“Honestly, (I hope) that they become a member of the awesome team here,” Rains said. “We have fantastic teachers and a great staff overall. It’s a wonderful team to serve as a member of.”
