Texas man arrested at Greenwood hotel

A Texas man was arrested after a woman told police he pulled her hair, popped her neck and obstructed her breathing in a Greenwood hotel over the weekend.

Christopher Stephen Knoerr, 35, 213 S. Skyline Drive, Cresson, Texas, was arrested on charges of strangulation and domestic battery.

Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Greenwood Springs Drive at 6:24 a.m. Sunday on a report of domestic battery after a woman texted a friend in another state and asked him to call the police because her boyfriend had gotten violent, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.

The woman told police that the pair were arguing when Knoerr grabbed her by the chin and hair and twisted her neck, causing it to pop.

Knoerr then picked up the woman, threw her on the bed and put his hands over her nose and mouth, making it difficult for her to breathe, according to the report.

While strangulation means the act of killing by squeezing the throat, Indiana law defines it as intentionally applying pressure to another person’s throat or obstructing his or her nose or mouth.

Knoerr also grabbed the woman by the neck and pushed her up against the wall. The woman told police she began to get dizzy, according to the report.

The officer saw bruising and redness on the woman’s neck and arrested Knoerr.

He was taken to the Johnson County Jail, where he was released on $2,000 bond.
