Franklin man arrested after woman reports beating

<p>A Franklin man was arrested after a woman told police he beat her multiple times over the course of several hours, causing her and her children to flee from him twice.</p><p>Adrian Highsaw, 35, 501 S. Morton St., was arrested on charges of domestic battery, a felony, and criminal mischief.</p><p>A woman reported at 1:05 a.m. Thursday that Highsaw had punched and pushed her multiple times on Wednesday night, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.</p><p>The woman told police that she and her three children were in the motel room where they were staying when Highsaw began punching and pushing her about 8 p.m. Wednesday. The woman and her three children left the room and got into a vehicle. Highsaw jumped onto the hood of the vehicle and began punching it, according to the report.</p><p>The children and woman slept in the vehicle for a few hours before returning to the motel, the report said.</p><p>Highsaw was in the room when the family returned. He punched her in the forehead and continued to punch and push her, according to the report.</p><p>The woman attempted to leave the motel room again when Highsaw stood in the doorway to prevent her from leaving. He then told the woman they could leave, but one of the children could not. The woman talked to Highsaw to distract him and held him back so the children could leave the room, the report said.</p><p>The family ran to the vehicle in an attempt to escape, but Highsaw followed them and jumped into the vehicle. The woman drove everyone to an acquaintance’s home, where the children went inside. The woman told police that Highsaw punched her so hard again at the acquaintance’s home, that they both fell to the ground and Highsaw complained that his shoulder was out of the socket.</p><p>Police were called, and Highsaw told police he had sustained his injuries while falling. An officer reported that Highsaw had bruises along the knuckles of his right hand and that the vehicle the woman was driving had dents.</p><p>Highsaw has a previous misdemeanor domestic battery conviction from June 2005, according to online court records.</p><p>He was arrested and taken to the Johnson County Jail, where he is held without bond.</p>
