Baseball

Warriors rally past Franklin

Iyan Pelfree singled home a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to help Whiteland steal a 3-2 victory at Franklin on Tuesday. Luke Helton went the distance on the mound for the Warriors, striking out 14. Luke Miles drove in both runs for the Grizzly Cubs.

Trojans wallop North Central

Grant Herron struck out 12 while tossing five one-hit innings and Center Grove scored seven first-inning runs to roll to a 10-0 home win over North Central on Tuesday.

Brian Gaffney homered for the Trojans (6-2, 4-1 MIC), who got two RBIs each from Jackson Young and Josh Johnson.

Softball

Trojans blank North Central

Lex Warner had a home run and five RBIs in Center Grove’s 24-0 rout of North Central on Tuesday. Abby Herbst earned the win in the pitching circle, striking out 12 while allowing just one hit.

Woodmen fall at Decatur Central

Greenwood was defeated by defending state champion Decatur Central on Tuesday, 10-0. Allison Hayes, Anna Pritchett and Alexis Rees had hits for the Woodmen.

Rebels top Cardinals

Amber Linton tossed a shutout as Roncalli defeated Southport, 10-0, on Tuesday.

Boys golf

Woodmen beat Braves, Lancers

Greenwood took care of Indian Creek and Edinburgh on Tuesday at Timbergate, topping the runner-up Braves by 18 strokes (156 to 174). Medalist Jackson Watkins carded a 35 to lead the Woodmen, while Trent Vislay added a 39 and Elijah Poe and Jacob Rothaar each shot 41.

Luke Knight paced Indian Creek with a 39. Bladen Hancock led the host Lancers with a 44.

Girls tennis

Trojans edge Jasper

Center Grove swept the singles points to pull out a 3-2 victory over Jasper on Tuesday. Ellie Strube, Ashlee Fisk and Jillian Garrett each won in straight sets for the Trojans.

Woodmen come up short

Despite a three-set win at No. 2 singles from Meri Yusef, Greenwood suffered a 4-1 loss to Plainfield on Tuesday.

Rebels cruise to win

Roncalli took care of Beech Grove on Tuesday, rolling to a 5-0 victory.

Braves earn conference win

Freshmen Avery Burris and Emilee Scott pulled out a three-set victory at second doubles to lift Indian Creek to a 3-2 triumph over Edgewood on Monday. Katie Burkman won at first singles for the Braves (2-1), while Ali Harris and Brooke Coy picked up the point at No. 1 doubles.

Boys volleyball

Grizzly Cubs sweep Brebeuf

Sixth-ranked Franklin made light work of No. 10 Brebeuf on Tuesday, sweeping its way to a 25-23, 25-20, 26-24 triumph. Josiah Rockey had 16 kills in the win for the Grizzly Cubs (15-2), while Davis Fiddler had 12 digs and Austin Sewell added 22 assists.

Rebels rally, win in five

Roncalli roared back from a two-set deficit to defeat Brebeuf on Monday, 23-25, 26-28, 25-13, 25-15, 15-7.

Franklin College

Softball manages split

After dropping the first game of Tuesday’s home doubleheader against St. Mary’s, 6-4, Franklin College bounced back with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap. Natalie Weber slugged a go-ahead homer in the win for the Grizzlies.
