Center Grove cruises

Abby Herbst tossed a one-hitter, striking out 10, and Center Grove rolled past Bloomington North, 10-0, in five innings Wednesday.

Jillian Ransdell, Kennedy Bader and Piper Belden had three hits each for the Trojans, while Lex Warner added a two-run homer.

Baseball

Trojans blank Giants

Grant Herron had a home run, two doubles and four RBIs in Center Grove’s 11-0 win over Ben Davis on Wednesday. Tyler Cerny doubled twice and drove in three for the Trojans (13-2, 9-1 MIC) and winning pitcher Brian Gaffney.

Woodmen come up shy

Greenwood rallied late but couldn’t complete the comeback bid in a 7-4 loss at Mooresville on Wednesday. Jordan Wright had a double and drove in two runs for the Woodmen.

Warriors dominate Hawks

Whiteland routed Decatur Central on Tuesday, 11-1. Alec Bauman had the big hit with a three-run double for the Warriors.

Braves drop pitchers’ duel

Despite getting a two-hitter and 16 strikeouts from Dustin Sprong, Indian Creek wound up taking a 2-0 defeat against Cascade on Tuesday.

Boys golf

Trojans defeat Grizzly Cubs

Center Grove won a three-way match with Columbus North and Franklin on Wednesday, posting a score of 293 to outdistance the Bull Dogs by 30.

Blake McIntire paced Franklin in defeat with a 73, while Damon Dickey carded a 75.

Braves drop Monrovia

A balanced effort led Indian Creek past Monrovia, 175 to 198, on Wednesday. Clark Haywood paced the Braves with a 42, followed by Dakota Day (43), Luke Knight (44) and Chandler Donahue (46).

Girls tennis

Lancers fall to Triton Central

Edinburgh dropped a 5-0 match against Triton Central on Wednesday. The Lancers’ best chance at a point came at second singles, where Haley Jones lost a third-set tiebreak.

Track and field

Braves compete at Edgewood

Indian Creek took part in a five-way meet at Edgewood on Tuesday, with the boys finishing third and the girls fourth. The Braves won both 4×100 relays and got individual wins from Christian Gorham in the 100 and Aidan Neathery in the shot put.

Basketball

Five Trojans sign college letters

Center Grove held a signing ceremony for its five senior basketball players who had committed to play at the collegiate level next year.

Trayce Jackson-Davis will head to Indiana University, while teammates Ben Nicoson and Spencer Piercefield are bound for the University of Indianapolis and Indiana Wesleyan, respectively.

Emma Utterback signed with the University of Vermont, and teammate Ella Thompson will play at Bentley University in Massachusetts.
