An elderly man submerged his car on Tuesday but reported no injuries after he hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
The incident occurred at 7 p.m. on the south end of Pisgah Lake off South Mauxferry Road, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
The driver said he drove down the boat loading ramp because he wanted to see what fish were biting when he approached the lake and hit the wrong pedal, causing the front half of his car to go into the water. A nearby fisher helped the man out of the car and the sheriff’s dive team was able to connect the car to a Franklin wrecker tow truck, although the car likely suffered interior damage, the report said.
