TOUCH-A-TRUCK, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Johnson County fairgrounds; $5.

Few things capture the imagination and wonder of a child like seeing a firetruck or piece of massive construction equipment.

Kids will be able to explore a wide variety of big trucks, tractors and other vehicles during the annual Touch-a-Truck event at the Johnson County fairgrounds. For $5 per person, families can learn about different kinds of big machinery from the people who operate them. Though horns and noise are a big part of these vehicles, a reduced-noise session will be held from 10 to 11 a.m.

Proceeds of the event benefit the infant-loss community through Beats for Bristol, an organization that helps women monitor their pregnancies using Doppler devices.
