School briefly evacuated due to suspicious package

A delivery company inadvertently left a package at the wrong door to a school, prompting police to evacuate students while investigating the suspicious package.

Students at Creekside Elementary, 700 E. State Road 44, Franklin, were returned to the building about 8 a.m. Tuesday after police discovered the delivery mistake, Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran said.

A package was discovered at the back door of the building before 8 a.m., and police began investigating and clearing away students, Cochran said. The decision was made to move Creekside students to the middle school during the investigation, he said.

A few minutes later, police learned from Amazon that the package was left at the wrong door of the building, and children were allowed to return, Cochran said.
