Warriors shoot season low in win

Whiteland fired a season-best total of 151 to defeat Brown County by 35 strokes on Tuesday. Medalist Zach Ricketts carded an even-par 36, while Walt Brady and William Davis each added 38s Collin Godar shot a 39 and Jacob Johnson a 40.

Grizzly Cubs win three-way

Franklin rolled past Mooresville and Greenwood Christian on Wednesday. Damon Dickey shot a 35 to lead the Grizzly Cubs, followed by Blake McIntire (36), Quin Edwards (38) and Ian McCullough (41).

Trojans win in match play

Playing a Ryder Cup-style match against Bloomington North on Wednesday, Center Grove picked up a 5-1 victory. The tandem of Bryant Simulia and Mitchel Sanders was 2-0 on the day, as was the duo of Caleb Tidd and Peyton Short. Luke DeHaven and Dylan Bonfield were 1-1 together.


Warriors name two new fall coaches

Whiteland has hired new girls soccer and volleyball coaches for the upcoming school year.

Jill Cain will be the Warriors’ new volleyball coach after spending the last two seasons as the junior varsity coach at Southwestern (Shelbyville). She coached Whiteland’s JV team in 2014 while attending the University of Indianapolis. She works as an occupational therapist.

Also coming aboard is Jackie Smith, who was a four-year varsity soccer player at Center Grove before playing two seasons at Marian University.

Chase Smith bowling fundraiser set

Bowling for Chase, a fundraiser planned to help the family of Indian Creek swimmer Chase Smith cover the expenses of his latest battle with cancer, will take place on Sunday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hi-Way Lanes in Franklin.

The cost is $20 per person, which covers bowling and shoe rental. There will also be a bake sale, auction and 50/50 raffle, with all proceeds going to the Smith family.
