Pitbull puppies are home

Two pitbull puppies that were stolen from the Johnson County Humane Society have been found and are now with their mother at the humane society.

The puppies were reported missing the afternoon of May 25 from the Johnson County Humane Society.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office asked for tips to recover the dogs. A telephone tip led the sheriff’s office to the missing dogs.

Both dogs were sold to one person in Franklin for $40 on the evening of May 25, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

One dog was found at a residence in Franklin. The second animal was in Indianapolis, and that person surrendered the dog to the sheriff’s office. A father bought the two dogs and gave one to his son.

The people who bought the dogs are cooperating with investigators. Investigators are still working to identify who stole the dogs, according to the report.

Humane Society employees are working with the Indianapolis resident to allow the family to adopt one of the dogs once the animal is old enough to be weaned, the report said.
