Man arrested on several warrants, charges, including stealing Polaris

<p>A Morgantown man was arrested Friday in Brown County after a week-long investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.</p><p>Christopher Michael Nealy, 38, 419 N. Church St., was arrested on local charges of burglary, multiple thefts and two out-of-county warrants. He faces additional firearm and drug-related charges in Brown County.</p><p>Nealy admitted to stealing a Polaris four-wheeler on May 21 from a barn in the 4900 block of West 700 South in Trafalgar, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. But that wasn’t the first or last time he burglarized the property, he told investigators.</p><p>Just after 6 p.m. May 21, the homeowner called police to report that someone had stolen his Polaris, valued at more than $5,000. The homeowner later discovered a license plate was also missing. Nealy told investigators he stole that during his third visit to the property, the report said.</p><p>A neighbor told investigators he saw a suspicious white Nissan speed away from the residence around the time of the reported burglary, according to the report.</p><p>On May 24, investigators received a tip that Nealy drove a white Nissan and had recently acquired a four-wheeler.</p><p>Brown County deputies located Nealy on Friday in Nashville, in the white Nissan matching the description given by the neighbor who reported seeing it flee from the property in Trafalgar, according to the report. Deputies found a firearm, methamphetamine, heroin and several stolen goods on Nealy, the report said.</p><p>During an interview later that day, Nealy told Johnson County investigators he entered the property in Trafalgar three separate times. First, he “cased” the property, he told them. Then he stole the Polaris, which was reported. He later returned a third time to steal a FedEx package with a license plate inside, the report said.</p><p>He also admitted to stealing a license plate on May 26 from Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin. That theft was captured by security cameras, according to the report.</p><p>The Polaris is still missing. Nealy told investigators it was “re-stolen” from him in Edinburgh. One of the license plates was found and returned. The other was not.</p><p>Nealy is being held at the Johnson County jail without bond.</p>
