Whiteland street named in memory of racing champ

Whiteland is naming a street in a new industrial development after a drag racing champion who was a native to the town.

The Town of Whiteland, along with Jones Development, is naming the main corridor that leads into the Whiteland Exchange as Bob Glidden Boulevard.

Whiteland Exchange is an industrial property near Interstate 65 and Whiteland Road that will have multiple speculative buildings.

An unveiling and street dedication at the Whiteland Exchange entrance will be hosted by the town and developers at 10 a.m. Aug. 2.

Glidden was a Pro Stock NHRA champion. Glidden and his family lived in Whiteland for more than 40 years and he also operated a performance shop in the town. He died in 2017.
