Lifelong resident named to Edinburgh’s town council

<p>A lifelong Edinburgh resident won a seat on the town council by way of a recent caucus.</p><p>Debbie Buck, 57, was recently elected by four precinct committeemen to take the seat vacated by Bill Jones.</p><p>Jones had resigned his seat effective July 1. The county’s Republican Party conducted the caucus late last month to fill Jones’s seat.</p><p>Buck has spent her entire life in Edinburgh and is a human resources supervisor at Sonoco Flexible Packaging in Edinburgh.</p><p>Initially, three people filed for the seat, but one person withdrew his application before the caucus, said Beth Boyce, Johnson County Republican Party chairwoman.</p><p>The caucus went through four rounds of voting before Buck was able to snag a majority of the votes, Boyce said.</p><p>She was sworn in immediately.</p>
