Franklin College

Grizzlies hire women’s soccer coach

Kim DeCesare has been named as Franklin College’s new women’s soccer coach, athletic director Kerry Prather announced on Wednesday.

DeCesare has just one season of coaching experience, having served as an assistant at Elon College last year, but she built an impressive résumé as a player prior to that. She graduated from Duke in 2013 as the No. 6 goal scorer in school history and played professionally for the Boston Breakers and Sky Blue FC of the NWSL as well as for teams in Sweden and the Netherlands.

"I feel that this program can be highly successful and that the college attracts the kind of people that I enjoy working with, both on and off the field," DeCesare said in a statement. "I can’t wait to put in the hard work to help the team succeed. My goal and vision for this program is to maximize the individual and team potential on and off the field while attracting quality student-athletes, and most importantly young women, who want to succeed in all aspects of their lives."
