Franklin man facing 27 charges of child pornography, sexual misconduct

A Franklin man is facing 25 child pornography charges and is accused of sexual misconduct with a minor after a two-month investigation by multiple police agencies and a task force that finds and prosecutes child predators.

Tyler Bartnovsky, 26, 1285 S. U.S. 31, Franklin, was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and child solicitation, both level 4 felonies, and 25 counts of child pornography, a level 6 felony, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

Police served a search warrant at his Franklin home and arrested him on Thursday. The investigation started with a tip, the news release said. Details of what police found in the search have not been released.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force consists of several central Indiana police agencies. This case was led by a detective from the Martinsville Police Department with the assistance of the Franklin Police Department, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Noblesville Police Department, Brownsburg Police Department and Indiana State Police, the news release said.

The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office will determine what, if any, charges to file. They were waiting on details of the investigation Friday afternoon, which they expect to receive early next week. They will make a decision then, acting prosecutor Joe Villanueva said.

Bartnovsky is being held at the Johnson County jail on $43,200 bond.
