Trojans dominate Bears
Class 3A No. 8 Center Grove opened league play with a 4-0 win at Lawrence Central on Tuesday. Nick Wilson collected two goals and an assist for the Trojans (4-1, 1-0 MIC), while Cooper Livermoore and Richard Dechant also found the back of the net.
Cougars overpower International
Jon Amador kept up his high-scoring start, netting a pair of goals Tuesday in Greenwood Christian’s 4-1 victory over International. Fernando Lagunas and Josue Mier also scored for the Class A No. 8 Cougars (3-0).
Warriors tie Dragons
Riccardo Sicchiero scored twice as Whiteland managed a 2-2 draw at New Palestine on Tuesday.
Woodmen defeated on road
Greenwood lost at Greenfield-Central on Tuesday, 14-1. Jayden Gregor scored the lone goal for the Woodmen.

Cougars fall just shy
Despite two goals from Cameron Northern, Greenwood Christian suffered a 3-2 setback against Bethesda Christian on Tuesday.

Maecee Terhune was the medalist with a 39, leading Greenwood to a 183-195 victory over Bloomington North on Tuesday. Taylor Watson and Maeci West carded rounds of 46 and 47, respectively, for the Woodmen.
Trojans split at Prairie View
Eleventh-ranked Center Grove beat Fishers but lost to No. 4 Carmel at Prairie View Golf Club on Tuesday. The Trojans posted a team score of 179.
Maddie Heineman led Center Grove with a 42, followed by Lauren Pagel (44), Hope Davis (46) and Lanie DeHaven (47).
Cougars earn narrow win
Playing on a tough Coffin Golf Club layout, Greenwood Christian edged Shortridge on Tuesday, 238-244. Sophia Valant led the Cougars with a 52.
Boys tennis
Woodmen handle Artesians
Greenwood swept Martinsville, 5-0, on Tuesday. Ethan Gray, Nick Belovic and Charlie Brooks took the singles points for the Woodmen (3-1, 2-1 Mid-State).
In doubles, Ben Sobieray and Aiden Luttrell were victorious in the first spot, while Spencer Aaron and Thomas Burtt won at No. 2.
Braves pick up first win
Indian Creek edged Southwestern, 3-2, on Tuesday for its first dual-match victory of the season. Cass Mitchell and Garrett Dalton won in straight sets at second and third singles, respectively, while the No. 2 doubles team of Aiden Pemberton and Jaden Schrougham also picked up a point.
Trojans edged in league match
Center Grove suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against North Central on Tuesday. Luke Embrey won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, while the second doubles team of Glenn Swaney and Ryan Wiseman also prevailed.
Dragons top Grizzly Cubs
Franklin lost a 4-1 battle with New Palestine on Tuesday. The Grizzly Cubs got a win at third singles from Jackson Hedges.
Lancers fall to 0-2
Edinburgh was defeated at Brownstown Central on Tuesday, 5-0. Brayden McManaway had the Lancers’ most competitive match, taking a 6-3, 6-4 loss at first singles.
Volleyball
Lancers pull out five-setter
Edinburgh outlasted Morristown on Tuesday, rallying from two sets down for a 24-26, 17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 16-14 triumph.
Rebels sweep at home
Roncalli rolled past Covenant Christian on Tuesday, 25-14, 25-17, 25-23. Abby Johnson had six kills and four blocks for the Rebels.
Cross country
Woodmen girls win at Mooresville
Greenwood’s girls repeated as the team champions at the Mooresville Inviational on Tuesday. Ava Leininger, Julia Arruda and Selena Piñon took second through fourth places and Mallory Watson was seventh for the Woodmen.
The boys placed second as a team, with Noah McCracken, Keith Alford and Conner Watson taking third through fifth individually.
Miscellany
Baseball, softball realign
The IHSAA released baseball and softball sectional alignments for 2020 and 2021 on Tuesday, with the changes affecting almost every local team.
The Class 4A baseball and softball sectionals featuring Center Grove, Franklin, Greenwood and Whiteland still contains Martinsville but swapped out Franklin Central for Mooresville.Â
Indian Creek’s Class 3A softball draw no longer contains state champion New Palestine, which moved up to 4A. Instead, the Braves will match up with Brown County, Edgewood, Northview, Owen Valley and West Vigo. In baseball, Sullivan replaces Northview in the bracket.
Edinburgh and GCA’s baseball and softball teams remain together in Class A with Indianapolis Lutheran, Morristown, Southwestern and Waldron.
