EDINBURGH FALL FESTIVAL, 5 to 10 p.m. today through Saturday, Main Street and Main Cross Street.

The town of Edinburgh says goodbye to summer and hello to autumn with its annual September festival. This event, which started Wednesday, will include carnival rides, music and other entertainment, tons of good food and a parade on Saturday. The Fall Festival Queen will be crowned Saturday night at 6 p.m., followed by a reunion concert by the Justin Slager Band.

The Johnson County Public Library resumes its Author Series with best-selling novelist Susan Wiggs. Her novels include “Between You & Me” and “Map of the Heart.” Her most recent release is “The Oysterville Sewing Club,” which came out in August.

Wiggs will discuss her writing, and her books will be on sale during the event. Tickets are free and can be secured at pageafterpage.org/authors-at-jcpl.
