Author sets mystery in WWII England

In the early 1940s, England and much of Europe were consumed by the ongoing battles of World War II.

Everyday life revolved around the drama and danger of air raids, rationing and an unending feeling of dread.

So when southside author Linda Minton wanted to create historical mystery novels, it made sense to set her twisting, turning plots in an already dramatic period.

Minton’s latest efforts is “The Harlaxton Heist,” which was released in July. The novel follows the main characters Cliff Ray and Aggie Taylor into a mystery set in Harlaxton Manor, a real-life castle in Grantham, England.

In support of the novel, Minton will have a book signing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Brickhouse Coffee, 100 Byrd Way, Greenwood.

Minton, a retired elementary school teacher, has had a long-enduring fascination in the World War II era. She has already written two books, “WWII Heroes” and “Remembering WWII Women,” telling the real-life stories of those who served in the war, and those who remained at home and sacrificed from the home front.

“The Harlaxton Heist” is her first novel. She also has a children’s book titled “Zelda and Babe” coming out in November. The story revolves around Zelda, an Italian greyhound, and her friend Babe, a long-haired red tabby cat.

“The Harlaxton Heist,” as well as Minton’s previous works, will be available to purchase as the signing. Her books can also be found on Amazon.
