Indianapolis man breaks into same house twice

An Indianapolis man broke into the same Franklin house twice, Franklin police said.

Tony Boles, 27, 304 W. Hanna Ave., was arrested on charges of burglary, residential entry and theft.

Boles admitted to breaking into the house in the 800 block of Windstar Boulevard in Franklin Friday morning, according to a Franklin Police Department report. He told police his ex-girlfriend lived at the house, but he wasn’t supposed to be there, and he broke in to get a cigarette.

He stole the homeowner’s clothes, which he was wearing when police arrested him. Other items he either admitted to stealing or had on him included food, change, toys, board games, jewelry, perfume, an oven mitt and a knife.

About 10:23 a.m. Friday, the homeowner arrived home and found clothes in the walkway leading to her house and the garage doors open. She called police and said Boles was coming out of her house and he wasn’t supposed to be there, the police report said.

When police arrived, they found Boles walking on the sidewalk nearby and stopped him. He told police he did not have any weapons on him, but they found a knife tucked into his left sock, according to the police report. He was confused and disoriented, police said.

At the jail, police found an oven mitt and a deck of Uno cards tucked into his waistline.

The homeowner told police Boles also broke into the house the night before, and he admitted to breaking a window with Mardi Gras beads, the report said.

Police found a safety razor on the ground in the backyard, but the knife was missing, according to the report.

Boles told police he knew he was trespassing because he was told not to be at the house. He told police he stole some food and change, a Yahtzee game, an 8-ball, jewelry in a bottle and perfume. The homeowner told police the only items that were hers were the clothing he was wearing and the jewelry, the report said.

Boles was taken to the Johnson County jail where he is being held on $8,800 bond.
