Three arrested on burglary charges

Three people were arrested after they broke into a Greenwood house early Monday morning.

Shelby Smith of Greenwood, Joshua Woods of Indianapolis and Jacob Profitt, also of Indianapolis, were all arrested on felony burglary charges.

Officers from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Greenwood Police Department teamed up to find and arrest the three burglary suspects, two of whom shattered a sliding glass door and entered a house in the 6100 block of Witt Drive just before 2:30 a.m.

Deputies found Smith inside a car that was parked near the house and arrested her. They then set up a perimeter and requested help from a Greenwood Police Department K9, which used clothing and a pair of gloves left behind by the suspects in a nearby field to track them, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The two men were quickly found walking north on State Road 37 and arrested, the news release said.

Smith told officers she was Woods’ girlfriend, and she had driven the two men to the house so Woods could collect money that was owed to him. She also said she knew they were there to commit a crime because they were going to enter the house one way or another, according to the news release.

Smith, 22, 591 N. Meridian St., and Woods, 24, 4123 Ellago Blvd., were taken to the Johnson County jail where they are being held on $13,200 bonds. Profitt, 21, 1003 N. Grant St., is being held at the jail on $6,600 bond.
