Investigation ongoing in drive-by shooting

Police are still investigating a drive-by shooting in the Center Grove area and a man has been arrested on an attempted murder charge.

Jonah S. Henderson, 18, has been arrested Tuesday evening after a suspected drive-by shooting in the 5000 block of Old Smith Valley Road in Greenwood. Charges have not yet been filed, according to online court documents.

Multiple agencies, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Greenwood Police Department, Bargersville Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police began investigating the report of shots fired in the area at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The area where the incident occurred is near the intersection of Morgantown Road and Smith Valley Road.

Henderson was found about 5:17 p.m. Tuesday at a trailer park in Edinburgh and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he is being held on $40,000 bond.

No one was struck or injured in the shooting, the news release said.

Investigators worked throughout the afternoon to interview several witnesses and locate both the shooter and driver of the suspect vehicle, which multiple witness said they saw flee the scene, according to the news release.

The motive of the shooting is unclear, Sheriff Duane Burgess said in the news release.
