Juvenile arrested on multiple charges after argument

A juvenile was arrested in Greenwood after police said he pointed a plastic cap gun at another teen and sped away, hitting a car.

The juvenile was arrested on charges of pointing a firearm, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of alcohol by a minor.

The Daily Journal does not identify juveniles involved in crimes, unless they are later charged as adults in court.

A teenager told a Greenwood police officer that about 6:37 p.m. Tuesday, he and some friends were hanging out in the parking lot of Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Greenwood Park Mall when they were approached by the juvenile, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.

The juvenile and another teen got into an argument and the juvenile pulled what they believed was a pistol out of the waistband of his pants, pointed it at the teenager and then sped off in a vehicle, the report said.

Another teenager said he had to move to get out of the way of the vehicle the juvenile was driving and that the juvenile hit another car as he sped off, the report said.

Other officers located the truck the juvenile was driving at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Main Street. An officer conducted a traffic stop, where the juvenile was found and arrested. A silver, plastic cap gun and a bottle of alcohol were found in the vehicle, according to the report.

The juvenile told police he pointed the cap gun and did not stop after he hit a vehicle, the report said.
