MTSU’s Hammill passes 2,000-assist mark

<p>Middle Tennessee setter <strong>Taylor Hammill</strong> had 26 assists, two digs and two kills in the Mocs’ loss to No. 24 Western Kentucky. In an earlier match against Marshall, the senior, a former Center Grove player, eclipsed 2,000 career assists.</p>
<p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p>
<p>Ohio State senior <strong>Madison Smeathers</strong> finished with nine kills and three digs in the Buckeyes’ five-set loss to No. 20 Purdue. She had four kills, two digs and a block in a victory over Rutgers.</p>
<p>Loyola (New Orleans) senior outside hitter <strong>Malea Howie</strong> had three kills and a dig in a loss at William Carey in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.</p>
<p>IU Southeast freshman <strong>Santina Schembra</strong> helped her team defeat West Virginia Tech with her 10 digs.</p>
<p>University of Indianapolis volleyball player <strong>Emma Jones</strong> had 10 kills and a dig in a home loss to Ashland.</p>
<p>Denver junior libero <strong>Macy Carrabine</strong> had 12 digs and three assists in the Pioneers’ win over Western Illinois. She added nine digs in the team’s victory at North Dakota.</p>
<p>Grace College golfers <strong>Lucy Young</strong> and <strong>Sydney Abbott</strong> led the Lancers to the NCCAA national championship in Palm Coast, Florida, in only the program’s fifth year. Both were named All-Americans, with Young finishing third individually (76-80-82—238) and Abbott sixth (78-82-83—243).</p>
<p>Ball State senior <strong>Peighton Gilbert</strong> was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet at Purdue in 1:36.22. She was fourth in the 50 freestyle in 24.36 seconds.</p>
<p>Franklin College junior <strong>Noah Tallman</strong> placed 12th in the 100 butterfly in 54.17 seconds and was 18th in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.29 at the Indiana Intercollegiate at Purdue. Tallman was also part of the ninth-place 200 medley relay.</p>
<p>Rose-Hulman running back <strong>Alonzo Johnson</strong> carried the ball four times for 19 yards in the team’s 45-0 victory at Anderson. Teammate <strong>Riley Roberts</strong> made a 7-yard reception and also returned a kickoff 64 yards.</p>
<p>Louisville safety <strong>Russ Yeast</strong> finished his team’s 45-10 loss to defending national champion Clemson with five tackles and an interception.</p>
<p>Indiana junior <strong>Nate Snyder</strong> averaged 58.7 yards and had one touchback on six kickoffs in the Hoosiers’ 34-28 win at Maryland.</p>
<p>Vanderbilt defensive lineman <strong>Cameron Tidd</strong> had four tackles, including a sack, in the Commodores 21-14 win over Missouri.</p>
<p>Freshman defensive lineman <strong>Lucas Hunter</strong> had two tackles for Indiana State in a 42-23 loss to No. 3 South Dakota State.</p>
<p>Marian linebacker <strong>Bailey Bennett</strong> had seven tackles in his team’s 28-13 victory against 10th-ranked Concordia.</p>
<p>Senior receiver <strong>Joey Siderewicz</strong> made three receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown as Franklin College lost at home to Manchester, 30-21.</p>
<p>Ball State receiver <strong>Trevor Hohlt</strong> chipped in tackle and one rushing attempt in the Cardinals’ 52-14 victory over visiting Toledo.</p>
<p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p>
<p>Ball State freshman swimmer <strong>Jessie Fraley</strong> placed 17th in the 200 freestyle at the Indiana Collegiate meet at Purdue in 1:59.69.</p>
<p>Freshman <strong>Shane O’Sullivan</strong> earned 14th-place finishes in the 50 free and 100 butterfly at the Indiana Intercollegiate at Purdue.</p>
<p>Franklin College junior <strong>Abby Sewell</strong> had nine kills and three digs in the Grizzlies’ five-set volleyball loss to Defiance. She had five kills and a service ace in a loss at Transylvania.</p>
<p>Murray State volleyball player <strong>Rachel Kinney</strong> had six kills and a dig in the Racers’ 3-0 sweep of Tennessee State.</p>
<p>Ball State linebacker <strong>Clayton Coll</strong> had three tackles and returned a fumble for eight yards in the Cardinals’ 52-14 win over Toledo.</p>
<p>Rose-Hulman freshman <strong>Tyce Miller</strong> had two tackles and two punt returns in the team’s 45-0 victory at Anderson.</p>
<p><strong>GREENWOOD</strong></p>
<p>Sophomore <strong>Maddie Bright</strong> was one of three Franklin College women’s tennis players chosen honorable mention for the All-HCAC team. Bright posted a 5-6 record playing No. 1 singles and is honorable mention for a second consecutive season.</p>
<p>Huntington goalkeeper <strong>Maddy Moan</strong> recorded seven saves in a 4-0 loss to Taylor. She had three saves in a 3-0 loss at No. 18 Spring Arbor.</p>
<p>Franklin College cross country runner <strong>Janae Johnson</strong> placed 188th in a time of 28:46.6 in the women’s race at the Inter-Region Rumble at Oberlin. Wabash freshman <strong>Ethan Pine</strong> finished 197th in the men’s event in 27:12.1.</p>
<p>Franklin College freshman diver <strong>Faith Jackson</strong> took fifth in the 3-meter competition with 157.55 points at the Indiana Intercollegiate at Purdue. She added a ninth-place effort in the 1-meter with 190.65 points.</p>
<p>Pittsburgh senior diver <strong>Krista Jones</strong> placed fifth in the 1-meter event in a duel meet at Michigan State with 235.64 points. She also took fifth in the 3-meter event with 235.35 points.</p>
<p>Freshman middle blocker <strong>Alyssa Stilley</strong> had two digs and three blocks for the Roosevelt volleyball team in its five-set loss at Cardinal Stritch.</p>
<p><strong>WHITELAND</strong></p>
<p>Freshman diver <strong>Collin Barton</strong> came in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3- and 1-meter competitions at the Indiana Intercollegiate at Purdue.</p>
<p>Anderson defensive back <strong>Trevor Larence</strong> made a tackle for a 15-yard loss in the Ravens’ 45-0 home loss to Rose-Hulman.</p>
<p><strong>EDINBURGH</strong></p>
<p>Cincinnati Christian volleyball player <strong>Bri Howard</strong> had 14 digs, an assist and a service ace in a loss to IU Kokomo, and 18 digs and two aces in a loss to Point Park (Pennsylvania).</p>
<p><strong>INDIAN CREEK</strong></p>
<p>Evansville junior <strong>Izzy Dawson</strong> finished 22nd in 20:24.4 at the UE cross country invitational.</p>
