Incumbent wins Trafalgar clerk-treasurer

Republican Donna Moore will serve another term as Trafalgar clerk-treasurer.

Moore won a second term Tuesday, gaining 65 percent of the vote over Independent candidate Kimberly Rice, who took 35 percent of the vote. Rice had said she would not accept the position if she was elected, as she missed the deadline to withdraw from the race. She cited personal circumstances as to her reason for not accepting the office.

Moore wanted another four years in office to see how she can best use the resources she has available by attending conferences and studying the law, she said.

The clerk-treasurer manages the town’s accounts and finances, records minutes from council and committee meetings, invests town funds, manages payroll, keeps town records and submits financial information to the state.
