Republican wins Prince’s Lakes clerk-treasurer

<p>A Republican newcomer has earned the Prince’s Lakes clerk-treasurer seat.</p>
<p>Erica Giger won the seat with 65 percent or 149 votes. Independent candidate Rose Yates received 78 votes or 34 percent.</p>
<p>Republican Karen Harrison, who has the seat until the end of the year, did not run for reelection, and instead won the Republican primary for a town council seat. She and four other candidates ran unopposed for the town’s town council seats.</p>
<p>The clerk-treasurer manages the finances for the town, which has a population of about 1,340 residents. The clerk-treasurer pays the town’s bills, collects fees and keeps the town’s record. The job pays $50,088.</p>
<p>Giger has spent nine years work in banking and wanted to help the her community and help the town work, she said.</p>
