Veterans Day Events

<p>You can grab a meal with a veteran, buy a poppy to help veterans or thank veterans at a school program.</p>
<p>Veterans Day is Nov. 11 and area organizations and schools are planning events to honor them.</p>
<p>Greenwood VFW Post No. 5864 poppy drive, 9 a.m. today, Tractor Supply, 1460 U.S. 31, Walmart, 882 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, and Sam’s Club, 1101 Windhorst Way. Proceeds go to help struggling veterans.</p>
<p>Greenwood American Legion Post No. 252 will have a lunch open to all veterans and their families at 2 p.m. Sunday, 334 U.S. 31 S.</p>
<p>Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 will host a dinner at 7 p.m. Monday, 1200 Park Ave.</p>
<p>Compass Park Event Center, 10 a.m. Monday, 690 State St., Franklin; doughnuts and coffee served at 9:30.</p>
<p>Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community, 7-9:30 a.m. Monday, 1080 W. Jefferson St., Franklin; all veterans will be honored with drive-through breakfast at the community’s main entrance, while supplies last.</p>
<p>Grace United Methodist Church and Boy Scout Troop No. 228, 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church, 1300 E. Adams Drive, Franklin. A reception will follow the program.</p>
<p>Local schools have planned programs ahead of the day. All programs are open to the public. They include:</p>
<p>Indian Creek High School/Middle School, 803 W. Indian Creek Drive, Trafalgar, 9:30 a.m. Monday. Anthony Miele will speak.</p>
<p>Greenwood Community Middle School, 1584 Averitt Road. 8 a.m. Monday.</p>
<p>East Side Elementary School, 810 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, 8:30 a.m. Monday.</p>
<p>Creekside Elementary School, 700 E. State Road 44., Franklin. 8:30 a.m. breakfast for active duty military; 9 a.m. convocation Monday.</p>
<p>Union Elementary School, 3990 W. Division Road, Bargersville. 1:15 p.m. Monday.</p>
<p>Webb Elementary School, 1400 Webb Court, Franklin. 9-9:35 a.m. Monday, reception for veterans. Program open to the community starts at 9:45.</p>
<p>Franklin Community Middle School, 625 Grizzly Cub Drive, Franklin. 8:30 a.m. Monday.</p>
