Ann (Heminger) Allen, 78, of Franklin, Indiana passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at her residence.
</p>
<p>
She was born December 1, 1940 in Paoli, IN to LeRoy Frederick Heminger and Helen Beatrice (Deckard) Heminger. She married John R. Allen on October 23, 1960 at First Baptist Church in Franklin, IN; he survives.
</p>
<p>
She was a 1958 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1962 graduate of Franklin College. She received her Master’s in Education Degree from Indiana University in Columbus, IN. She had been a teacher in Indiana for 28 years.
</p>
<p>
She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association, Franklin College Delta Zeta Alumni where she was the Co-President, and member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a past member of Matinee Musical and the Franklin Community Band.
</p>
<p>
She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin for over 50 years where she enjoyed singing in the choir and served on numerous church boards. Presently a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, and a member of the Marco Island Presbyterian Church.
</p>
<p>
She and her husband were residents of Imperial Wilderness of Naples, Florida for ten years and along with John were members of the Naples, Florida New Horizon Band.
</p>
<p>
Ann loved to travel as she and her husband John traveled to all 50 states, Canada, and several foreign countries. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed cross stitch and knitting.
</p>
<p>
Survivors include her husband, John R. Allen of Franklin, IN; her daughter, Susan Burbank (Jeff) of Trafalgar, IN; her son, Andrew Allen of Trafalgar, IN; four grandchildren, Ellen DuKate (Craig), David Burbank, Erin Burbank, Drew Burbank; two great-grandchildren, Cason and Callen DuKate; a brother, Noel Heminger (Ruth) of Franklin, IN; a sister-in-law, Jean Heminger of Franklin, IN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Pat Allen of Franklin, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
</p>
<p>
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tad Heminger.
</p>
<p>
The Reverends Andy Kinsey, Homer Ford and Jenothy Irvine will conduct a celebration of life service on Monday November 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church 1300 East Adams Street in Franklin, IN where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. till the time of service at the church. A private family inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
