<p>New deputy police chief announced</p>
<p>Franklin has a new deputy chief of police.</p>
<p>Scott Summers has been named second in command at the Franklin Police Department. Chief Kirby Cochran still holds the top job.</p>
<p>Former deputy chief Chris Tennell stepped down from the position, and Summer’s promotion took effect Dec. 14, Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett said.</p>
<p>Summers was chosen for the job because he is a respected police officer and Barnett said he an Cochran would make a good leadership team.</p>
