Indianapolis man charged in Greenwood rapes

An Indianapolis man faces rape charges after two individuals told police the man raped them on two separate occasions at a Greenwood home.

Jason Beasley, 37, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape, both Level 3 felonies. He faces 32 years in prison if he is convicted, given the maximum sentence and ordered to serve the sentences separately. At least one of the victims is a juvenile, according to court documents.

A juvenile told a Greenwood police officer Beasley raped her in late May. The juvenile said she was at the home in Greenwood when she made comments about her back hurting and Beasley offered to give her a back rub. Beasley then raped her. The victim told police she told Beasley to stop and screamed, according to court documents.

Beasley told police he remembered rubbing the victim’s back, but that nothing else happened, court documents said.

In June, the second victim was asleep at the Greenwood home when Beasley came in and performed a sexual act on her. Another person came into the room and Beasley stopped, according to court documents.

When that person left the room, Beasley raped the victim. The victim told police she had her eyes closed the entire time and didn’t say anything because she was scared, court documents said.

Beasley told police he was looking for a video game and tried to shake the victim awake to find the game, according to court documents.

Sexual assault kits were conducted at Center of Hope at Franciscan Health Indianapolis after both incidents. In August, DNA was taken from Beasley. In late September, it was found that Beasley’s DNA was in both of the assault kits, court documents said.

Charges were filed in both cases Dec. 18 in Johnson County Superior Court 3. Beasley was arrested around 8 a.m. Thursday on the charges, with additional charges for possession of paraphernalia and a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Beasley, 746 S. Noble St., is held on $33,700 bond.
