Woman arrested on two felonies

A Greenwood woman was arrested after she prevented a man from leaving a fight and then tried to flee police.

Chelsea Elizabeth Edwards, 28, was arrested on charges of criminal confinement, domestic battery, battery on a public safety officer and resisting law enforcement.

A deputy with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic with battery just before 5 p.m. Monday.

Edwards told the deputy that she and a man got into a verbal fight and that she grabbed his sweatshirt and pulled him back and wrapped him with her arms to prevent him from leaving. The man was trying to get away and knocked Edwards into the wall, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy saw a scratch on her eye and a cut on her lip, the report said.

The man told police that he was trying to leave to prevent a fight with Edwards when she pulled his clothing to prevent him from leaving and that he pushed her to get him off of her, according to the report.

The man also told police that Edwards followed him outside, reached into his vehicle and took the car keys and his phone and was pulling him and grabbing him, the report said.

Police went to arrest Edwards and she resisted and screamed, and told officers that they would be fired and would serve time in federal prison for arresting her, according to the report.

Edwards then kicked an officer in the leg and ran to a neighbor’s home. An officer was injured while getting Edwards from the neighbor’s house, the report said.

Edwards, 4377 W. County Line Road, was taken to the Johnson County jail, where she was held on $4,400 bond.
