Woodmen sweep Hornets

Greenwood got the better of Beech Grove on Thursday evening, claiming the girls meet, 117-51, while the boys won by a nearly identical 117-54 count.

The girls got individual wins from Alayna Kenworthy (200 IM and 100 freestyle), Grace Nuhfer (50 and 500 free), Naomi Weaver (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly), Ava Leininger (100 backstroke), Madison Peckinpaugh (100 breaststroke) and Grace Taylor (diving). On the boys side, the Woodmen got first-place finishes from Joe Sheets (50 free, 100 fly), Conner Peckinpaugh (200 free, 100 back), Andrew Mears (200 IM, 500 free), Luke Ellington (100 breast) and Noah Chaplin (diving).

Trojans dominate Flashes

Center Grove steamrolled Franklin Central on Thursday, with the boys taking a 134-46 victory and the girls winning by a 111-75 margin.

Rebels second in three-way

Roncalli’s boys and girls were sandwiched in the middle of a three-way meet on Thursday, defeating Herron but falling to Warren Central. The Rebels totaled 201 points in the boys meet, while the girls scored 177.

IHSAA commish Cox to retire

Bobby Cox, who has served as the commissioner of the Indiana High School Athletic Association since 2011, announced Thursday that he will be retiring effective Aug. 1 of this year.
