Thompson earns league honor for second time this season

<p>Bentley women’s basketball player <strong>Ella Thompson</strong> has been named the Northeast-10 Conference rookie of the week for a second time this season. The freshman guard, a Center Grove graduate, averaged 9.5 points, five rebounds and five assists in her team’s wins over St. Michael’s College and Southern Connecticut State.</p><p>In the latter, Thompson nearly recorded a triple-double with 14 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.</p><p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p><p>The DePauw women’s basketball team downed Wooster, 82-44, with backup guard <strong>Emma LeMasters</strong> producing four points, two rebounds and an assist. She had three rebounds and two assists in DePauw’s 49-47 win against Denison.</p><p>Findlay junior guard <strong>Allison Utterback</strong> had five points, two assists and a steal in the team’s 67-66 win at Tiffin.</p><p>Vermont guard <strong>Emma Utterback</strong> had 12 points, five assists and two steals in a 60-58 win over UMBC. The freshman added 12 points, seven assists and four rebounds in a 65-62 win against Binghamton.</p><p><strong>Trayce Jackson-Davis</strong> had six points, three rebounds and two blocks in Indiana’s 66-54 win over Ohio State. He had four points, six rebounds and two blocks in IU’s 59-50 loss at Rutgers.</p><p>Delta State senior guard <strong>Anderson McCoy</strong> led his team in scoring with 19 points in the Statesmen’s 103-80 loss at Valdosta State.</p><p>Indiana Wesleyan freshman <strong>Spencer Piercefield</strong> had three rebounds, an assist and a steal in the Wildcats’ 93-68 win at Spring Arbor. The Wildcats downed Huntington, 97-66, with Piercefield contributing nine points and a steal, while senior teammate <strong>Trevor Harrell</strong> added six points.</p><p>University of Indianapolis sophomore wrestler <strong>Gleason Mappes</strong> helped the Greyhounds win three of four matches at the Tracy Borah Duels at Western Colorado. Mappes won matches at 174 pounds against foes from Colorado-Pueblo, Colorado-Mesa and New Mexico Highlands.</p><p><strong>Noah Tallman</strong> helped the Franklin College men’s 200 medley relay team pick up a win at the Colonel Classic in Danville, Kentucky, in a time of 1:39.87. The junior also took part in the victorious 800 freestyle relay, which posted a pool-record mark of 7:13.83, and the winning 400 free relay (3:16.49). Individually, Tallman placed second in the 500 free and the 100 and 200 butterfly.</p><p>Indiana’s <strong>Haley Goines</strong> finished third in the high jump and 90th in the 60-meter hurdles in a women’s track and field meet against Tennessee.</p><p><strong>INDIAN CREEK</strong></p><p>Ninth-ranked Bethel’s 87-61 victory at Huntington featured eight points and a steal by Pilots guard J<strong>ared DeHart.</strong> His former Braves teammate, Huntington guard <strong>Tim Abel,</strong> came off the bench to score two points and record a steal and an assist.</p><p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p><p>Franklin College freshman swimmer <strong>Shane O’Sullivan</strong> was part of the winning men’s 200 medley relay team at the Colonel Classic in Danville, Kentucky. He competed for the first-place 400 free relay and was runner-up in the 50 and 100 freestyle as an individual.</p><p>Air Force swimmer <strong>Scarlet Friend</strong> helped the Falcons win the 200 freestyle relay against in a meet against Incarnate Word.</p><p>Indiana women’s swimmer <strong>Carla Gildersleeve</strong> placed fourth in the 100 and 200 butterfly events with respective times of 56.16 seconds and 2:02.29.</p><p>Redshirt junior <strong>Skyler Lykins</strong> won all three of his matches at 165 pounds for Colorado School of Mines made its first appearance at the NWCA National Duals in Louisville.</p><p><strong>Bayleigh Torrance</strong> scored seven points to go along with an assist and steal in Franklin College’s 68-62 win at Anderson. She had three points, two assists and a rebound in the team’s 74-68 loss to Mount St. Joseph.</p><p><strong>Reece Thomson</strong> had six points and a steal for Mount St. Joseph in its 74-68 loss to Rose-Hulman. He had four points, two boards and two assists in a home loss to Franklin College, 85-80.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD</strong></p><p>St. Francis sophomore forward <strong>Jeffrey Reynolds</strong> poured in 27 points with three boards and a block, but the Cougars lost in overtime to Grace, 77-76. He had eight points and seven rebounds in the team’s 81-72 win at Mount Vernon Nazarene.</p><p><strong>Holly Hoopingarner</strong> finished with eight points and five assists in IUPUI’s 80-60 victory over Wright State.</p><p>Freshman diver <strong>Faith Jackson</strong> posted a score of 431.32 for Franklin College to win the 1-meter event at the Colonel Classic in Danville, Kentucky.</p><p><strong>WHITELAND</strong></p><p>Sophomore center <strong>Mackenzie Blazek</strong> helped the Illinois women’s basketball team defeat Minnesota, 74-71, with her nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.</p><p>St. Francis guard <strong>Sidney Crowe</strong> tallied four points with two rebounds and an assists in a 63-56 defeat of Grace. She had nine points, three rebounds and a block as the Cougars won at Mount Vernon Nazarene, 73-66.</p><p>IU East guard <strong>Megan Harlow</strong> had five rebounds and two assists in IU East’s 94-68 win against Alice Lloyd College. Harlow finished with three points and two rebounds in an 85-59 loss at Point Park.</p><p>Franklin College freshman diver <strong>Collin Barton’s</strong> score of 462.07 was good enough for first place at the Colonel Classic in Danville, Kentucky.</p>
