Man arrested on attempted murder charge after shooting at police

<p>A Greenwood man was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after he shot a gun at a Bargersville police officer.</p><p>Andrew Phillip McQuinn, 27, was arrested on a charge of attempted murder late Sunday.</p><p>The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office will decide what, if any, charges to file. No one was shot in the incident.</p><p>Bargersville police responded to a domestic disturbance around 8 p.m. Sunday at Clary Crossing Apartments on the northside of town, according to a news release from the Bargersville Police Department.</p><p>Dispatch told officers that a man and woman were involved, and there was a gun at the scene. An officer saw a muzzle flash in his direction and heard multiple gunshots, the news release said.</p><p>The officer took cover. The man threw the gun on the ground, laid down and officers arrested him, said Jeremy Roll, Bargersville police spokesman.</p><p>The responding officer was unsure of how many gunshots were fired, but investigating officers found six shell casings from a 9mm gun on the ground near the scene, Roll said.</p><p>Officers are unsure of who the gun belongs too, but suspect it is McQuinn’s gun, although he did not have a license for it at the scene, he said.</p><p>A child inside the apartment at the time of the shooting was not hurt. The woman involved in the disturbance was treated at Community Hospital South, Roll said.</p><p>&quot;She was OK at the scene, but she needed to be checked out,&quot; he said.</p><p>The Daily Journal does not identify the victims of crimes.</p><p>McQuinn, 636 Lawndale Drive, was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he is held on $40,000 bond.</p><p>Police are still investigating and may pursue additional charges, Roll said.</p><p>Eleven Bargersville police officers — on duty and reserves — responded to the scene. Officers from the Greenwood Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office also responded.</p>
