Bargersville will not disconnect utilities for 30 days

<p>With the COVID-19 outbreak across the state, the town of Bargersville will not disconnect utilities for those who are behind on their bills.</p><p>The Bargersville Town Council had an emergency meeting Monday morning to discuss a new procedure to deal with possible disconnects of utilities in the town.</p><p>With the guidance of Nancy Kehl, the Bargersville clerk-treasurer, the council voted to not disconnect any utilities for people who are behind on bills until April 28. </p><p>&quot;This is just strictly because the president declared a national emergency,&quot; Kehl said. &quot;People need to be washing their hands. You don’t want to disconnect the water.&quot;</p><p>Council members agreed. The town will not disconnect anyone’s water, heat or electricity, as people are being instructed to stay home as much as possible and wash their hands often to prevent the spread of the virus.</p><p>The council will revisit the issue at its May 2 meeting.</p>
