Formerly quarantined firefighters return to work

The 10 local firefighters who self-quarantined after they were exposed to an individual who displayed symptoms related to the coronavirus were cleared to return to work.

Firefighters with the White River Township Fire Department were on a medical run Saturday afternoon where a 60-year-old Johnson County man died. The man was not confirmed to have the virus, but displayed respiratory distress and symptoms related to the illness, Fire Chief Jeremy Pell said.

The man was tested for the virus, and results came back negative, according to the county’s newly formed Incident Management Team.

All 10 first responders who were on the run self-quarantined immediately, Pell said.
