Johnson County recycling center closes

<p>The county recycling services center is closed until further notice.</p><p>The Johnson County Recycling District’s staffed recycling service center and the Tox Box, which is used for disposal of household chemical disposal, both in Franklin, will close starting today due to growing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.</p><p>The amount of time the virus can stay on materials is concerning, so the district decided to close its facilities for the safety of their employees and Johnson County residents, said Jessie Biggerman, recycling district director.</p><p>&quot;We will continue to monitor the situation, just like the rest of the state and the country,&quot; Biggerman said. &quot;When we feel it is safe, we will open back up again.&quot;</p><p>The recycling district also canceled its Saturday document shredding, electronics recycling and household chemical disposal event scheduled for April 4.</p>
