State adds to stay-at-home order

<p>Gov. Eric Holcomb on Monday issued new guidance for residents and essential employers as part of the state’s recently extended stay-at-home order, which is in effect until April 20. </p><p>The updated order contains several clarifications regarding retail operations. Retailers are now divided into two categories: those with goods that are essential, and those with nonessential goods, Holcomb’s general counsel Joe Heerens said during a Monday news conference. </p><p>Retailers including grocery stores, pharmacies, auto supply stores, hardware stores and office supply stores are allowed to operate as normal, as long as they follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s social distancing guidelines, Heerens said.</p><p>Nonessential retailers such as bookstores, craft stores and boutiques are allowed to stay open for curbside pickup or online orders, but customers are not allowed to go inside, he said.</p><p>Retailers continuing with in-person shopping are ordered to enforce social distancing among employees and shoppers, to provide special hours for vulnerable shoppers, and provide sanitation supplies to employees, the order says.</p><p>Now, individuals should avoid going to the store for purchases other than those for sustenance, health, education and employment, the order says.</p><p>Individuals are ordered to limit the number of stores they visit and frequency of visits. Households are also ordered to limit the number of household members going to the store.</p><p>All state and private campgrounds must close to the public, according to the updated order. The order makes an exception for those whose primary residence is at a private campground, Holcomb said.</p><p>Holcomb publicly recognized several young people around the state for their good works in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, including Center Grove senior Dylan Godsave who, with the help of his classmates, started a grocery delivery service dubbed Southside Delivers for Greenwood’s most vulnerable residents.</p><p>“These kids get it and we need to follow their lead,” Holcomb said.</p><p>The full text of Executive Order 20-10, as well as all other orders pertaining to COVID-19, are available at <a href="http://in.gov/gov/2384">in.gov/gov/2384</a>.</p>
