Franklin College Day of Giving set for next week

Despite the shuttering of in-person gatherings, Franklin College’s annual Day of Giving will take place on April 16.

The eighth-annual Day of Giving will include a 24-hour fundraising effort that will be promoted on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as by email and other college communication methods, according to a Franklin College news release.

The efforts, marked using the #GivetoGRIZ hashtag, will help support the college’s Franklin Fund, which provides tuition assistance to students who need it. The money raised will also help fund the college’s web-based conferencing system for remote learning, cleaning supplies for the campus and other student needs, according to the news release.

The college hopes to raise $150,000 during the Day of Giving. Reaching that goal will unlock an additional $50,000 from donors who have already pledged money toward the Day of Giving challenge goals, the news release said.

Last year, the college had its most successful Day of Giving to date, collecting $165,288 from 1,012 donors, according to the news release.
