A pedestrian was struck and killed late Wednesday night on U.S. 31 in Greenwood.
Greenwood Police Chief John Laut said the man was dead at the scene when police arrived at the intersection of Hilltop Drive and U.S. 31, just south of the Greenwood Park Mall, where he was struck.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. No charges are expected to be filed, Laut said.
The victim’s name had not been released by press time Thursday because the victim’s family had not been notified, he said.
Police would not release any additional information about the incident Thursday.
